LoRaWAN Live: Munich - The Evolution of the LoRaWAN Standard
The LoRaWAN® standard began in 2015 as a specification for a single over-the-air protocol between end-devices and the network. Since then, it has evolved into a comprehensive end-to-end architecture. This architecture now includes a fully decomposed network with distinct network, join, and application servers. Additionally, numerous functionalities have been added to both the over-the-air and backend components, such as roaming, multicast, FUOTA, and relay. The standard also offers specific support for higher-layer transports and applications, including DLMS, IPv6, and codecs. In this talk, the Chair of the LoRa Alliance Technical Committee will discuss the evolution of the LoRaWAN standard since 2015 and highlight the new innovations currently in development.
